Fishing

Michigan has some of the best fishing around. Whether ice fishing for walleye, spring steelhead, summer perch, trout, bass, or downrigging for salmon in the Great Lakes, Michigan has it all!

License Information
A fishing license is required for all persons who have reached their 17h birthday, including those serving in the Armed Forces. When purchasing a fishing license, you may use a valid Michigan drivers license, a State of Michigan ID Card (issued by the Secretary of State with additional proof of residency), or a MDNR Sportcard (purchased from a lincese agent). If you have a MDNR Sportcard from a previous year and it is still accurate, you may continue to use it. When hunting or fishing, you must carry your license and the identification used to purchase your license with you.
