Welcome to Cheboygan! Located on Lake Huron, Cheboygan is considered a boater's paradise. It marks the beginning of the scenic Inland Waterway Route, and provides quick access to other nearby destinations, including Bois Blanc Island, Mackinac Island, Straits of Mackinac, Les Cheneaux Islands and the North Channel. And, don't forget about Lighthouses. There are seven locations to visit in the immediate Cheboygan area.
There are many unique attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Cheboygan is the homeport for the Coast Guard Icebreaker Cutter "Mackinaw". The historic Opera House hosts performances year-round. The Wanigan Festival takes place in late-June, celebrating our lumbering history. The Annual Riverfest Celebration each August highlights the importance of the Cheboygan River.
Also, if you like the outdoors; hunting, fishing and camping are plentiful and popular in this neck of the woods. Access to bicycle paths and snowmobile trails is easy, and enjoyable.
When visiting, you are sure to notice new development and a positive attitude in our community. We call it Cheboygan Momentum. Our people are friendly, and proud to show it. Relax, and enjoy our hospitality during any season.
