Native plants have deep roots that allow stormwater to soak in, spread out, and slow down, keeping harmful pollutants from flowing directly into rivers and lakes. Community members are invited to prepare a planting space on June 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Water Street parking bathrooms in downtown Cheboygan. A second planting event is scheduled for June 4 from 9 a.m. to noon. This event is the final workshop in the Watershed Council’s Promoting Green Infrastructure in Cheboygan project. The project is funded by a Great Lakes Commission Emerging Green Champions Mini-Grant and the Erb Family Foundation. Please bring your own work gloves and hand tools to each event. Refreshments will be provided. Sign up at www.watershedcouncil.org/attend-an-event.
