             Stop in and see us!

As employees of the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce, we wear many hats.  Not only do we promote and support our members businesses, we also provide information to residents and visitors alike.  Having a close relationship with the Cheboygan Area Visitors Bureau, we send out hundreds of information packets to potential and return visitors of the Cheboygan area.  When the phone rings in the office, the odds of it being someone from Kansas or Tennessee requesting travel information for Cheboygan County and our Inland Waterway and miles and miles of trails, are just about as good as someone from Cheboygan calling for the phone numbers of local plumbers or trash removal companies.
We have groups calling for us to assist them in planning bus trips, car tours, and sailboat regattas.  This summer we have several large groups planning on visiting and staying in Cheboygan for several days.  In June there will be a motor car tour passing through to tour our Lighthouses, grab a bite to eat and take in a little shopping.  In July we have the Michigander bicycle tour that will be staying in town for a few days, and in late July Cheboygan will be home to a J35 Sailboat Regatta, which along with Downtown Cheboygan’s Music Festival and Rockin’ River town Ride, will bring hundreds of boaters, bikers and spectators to town.
In the office we have all sorts of information available to the public.  From maps of the Inland Waterway to Cheboygan County Senior Resource guides, we can usually fulfill requests for just about any sort of information about Cheboygan we are asked for.  Our Chamber members regularly stock brochures, business cards and sometimes coupons from their businesses, and we have on hand trail maps, State of Michigan maps, and even maps of Michigan’s lighthouses.  So if you are ever wondering where to get information about our area, stop in and see us, chances are we‘ll be able to help you out.
Our office is a great place to pick up The Cheboygan County Council on Aging’s monthly newsletter “The Oasis”.  You can grab a copy of the Weekly Choice or the boat schedule for Shepler’s or Star Line to Mackinac Island or Plaunt Transportation to Bois Blanc Island.  We have Pure Michigan seasonal travel guides, and of course, the Cheboygan Today magazine.  If you are planning a “stay-cation”, we can provide information on things you may not even realize there are to do in Cheboygan and the surrounding area.
No matter what season it is, at the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce we are ready to get you the information you need.  From small business and economic development, to pontoon boat rentals, we have it.  So, if you’re looking to take a canoe trip, or want to know who is playing at the Opera House, stop in and see us, we’ll let you know!

    Hoffius Preserve Bicycle Ride Tour

    By Cheboygan Trails Council

Beginning at  8;30 am at Festival Square Jim Conboy  will lead a bike ride north on the North Central State Trail  to and back from the Hoffius Preserve just off US 23. The total round trip  distance is 15 1/2 miles. A volunteer will sweep to make sure no one is left behind. Once at the Preserve bikes will be left at the entrance,  with a volunteer,  and riders will  walk about 1/2 mile down  to the shore of Lake Huron where the beauty of the Lake can be appreciated. Total time 2 3/4 to 3hours.

While the trail is flat, riders should be prepared to ride the distance comfortably.  It is not a ride for young children. Since the path to the shore of Lake Huron includes steps and uneven ground, comfortable walking shoes are advised. Helmets are encouraged.

It would be appreciated if you would sign up for the ride though that is not required to participate.
